Message from the Director

On One year and three months have elapsed since the 560-bed Iseikai International General Hospital opened on October 1, 2023 in Minami-Ogimachi, Kita-ku, Osaka. Thanks to your support, we have steadily built up a track record as an acute and highly acute care hospital, with 60-70 admissions and discharges per day, 30-70 emergency transports per day, a bed occupancy rate of 90-96%, and an average length of stay of 9.5 days.
The number of surgeries, which was less than 200 per month during the time of the old hospital (Iseikai Hospital, Higashiyodogawa Ward), has increased to more than 300 per month, mainly in orthopedics, cardiovascular surgery, and gastroenterological surgery, and is expected to exceed 400 per month in the near future. We are also actively working on minimally invasive treatments such as catheterization, endoscopic therapy, ultrasound therapy, and robotic surgery. Based on these achievements, we aim to obtain the "acute care enhancement system surcharge" next year. We are trying hard to improve "cancer" treatment as well.
Additionally, we are also working to realize advanced and preemptive medical treatments such as cancer immunotherapy, regenerative medicine, and genomic medicine, as well as medical digital transformation using ICT and AI.
We have a track record of providing emergency care, general medical care, and health checkups for foreigners (including travelers from overseas and foreign nationals living in Japan). Many of our staff are fluent in foreign languages such as English, Chinese, Korean, and Indonesian, and we have even received letters of gratitude from overseas.
We are also achieving great results by boldly reviewing the work of medical professionals such as doctors and nurses, shifting tasks on a large scale, sharing tasks among multiple professions, and centralizing the management, efficiency, and streamlining of complex hospital work such as admission, discharge, and surgery through a central control system.
We are also working on community contribution projects such as childcare for sick and recovering children, community-based childcare projects, cooperation in creating places for children, accepting students from nearby junior high schools for work experience, free childcare seminars for parents raising children, and home treatment for children with intractable diseases.
The management philosophy of Iseikai Medical Corporation is to "create a rich health culture and provide safe and high-quality healthcare services." Based on this philosophy, Iseikai International General Hospital has the following five "missions." Namely,
- Providing high-quality standard medical care with consideration for medical safety
- Achieving early social rehabilitation through minimally invasive medical management
- Promoting personalized treatment based on genomic medicine
- Practicing efficient and effective medical care using AI and IT
- Promoting international medical exchange and contributing to regional revitalization
This year, Iseikai International General Hospital will finally begin full-scale operations in order to realize the management philosophy mentioned above. We appreciate your understanding and support.

What is JCI (Joint Commission International)?
JCI stands for Joint Commission International, an organization that evaluates medical facilities worldwide according to the strictest standards. JCI accreditation is granted only to medical institutions that demonstrate a commitment to quality and patient safety. The evaluation process assesses whether a medical institution ensures patient safety, delivers high-quality medical care, and maintains a system for continuous improvement within the organization.
