  • 1. Training of medical interns

Our hospital is committed to training medical interns. Medical interns perform actual examinations under the guidance of experienced doctors who are qualified as instructors. We ask for your understanding and cooperation in training young doctors who will lead the next generation.

  • 2. Reducing the excessive workload of medical staff

Due to their professional ethics, medical staff have responded to emergency patients and sudden changes in the condition of hospitalized patients as much as possible, day and night, because they are entrusted with the lives of others. On the other hand, excessive workload of medical staff has become a social problem. Therefore, Iseikai International General Hospital is taking measures to reduce the workload of medical staff in order to maintain their health and provide safe and secure medical care. We ask for your kind cooperation.

  • 3. Explanations of medical conditions, surgery, examinations, etc.

Until now, explanations related to medical conditions, surgery, examinations, etc. have been provided as much as possible in response to the wishes of patients and their families.
As a result, this has been one of the causes of chronic overtime work for medical staff. In order to resolve this, we ask for your cooperation in completing explanations and consultations related to medical treatment during working hours (weekdays 9:00-17:00) as much as possible. However, this does not apply in the case of an emergency.

  • 4. About outside of medical hours, such as weekends, holidays, and weekday nights

At our hospital, patients are treated by a team of the attending physician (doctor in charge) and doctors from the department to which the attending physician belongs. Therefore, doctors on duty or on-call doctors from the department will treat patients on weekends, holidays, and weekday nights. Of course, we will contact the attending physician (doctor in charge) as necessary and provide appropriate medical treatment, so please rest assured.

  • 5. About DPC (Diagnosis Procedure Combination System)

Iseikai International General Hospital is a hospital that is subject to the new fixed-price calculation method for medical expenses, "DPC," designated by the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, and calculates hospitalization fees using a comprehensive calculation method by disease.
The fixed daily hospitalization fee, which is determined in advance according to the name of the injury or illness and the contents of the surgery or treatment, is called the "comprehensive medical fee." This fixed fee includes the basic hospitalization fee, examinations, medication, injections, diagnostic imaging, etc.
The calculation of the flat fee is determined by the attending physician according to a classification called the diagnosis group classification, which is determined according to the medical procedure such as treatment based on the patient's illness and condition, and this calculation method is called the "comprehensive payment method."
If the "diagnosis group classification" changes after hospitalization due to the progression of the condition or the contents of the treatment, the medical expenses will be recalculated retroactively from the first day of hospitalization, so the billing amount will change. In such cases, the excess or deficiency may be adjusted at the time of discharge or after discharge.
Note that there are some conditions that do not fall under the diagnosis group classification, in which case the fee-for-service method will be used. Outpatient care is paid on a fee-for-service basis as usual.

  • 6. About the patient's responsible person (key person)

In order to avoid trouble after hospitalization (misunderstandings about information or differences in treatment plans among family members), we ask the patient and family to decide on a patient's responsible person (key person) in advance, and explain the patient's condition and proceed with treatment through the patient and the key person.
Please note that if we are unable to coordinate with the key person who has already explained the patient's condition, we may not be able to explain the patient's condition to the other family members.
If a family member requests an explanation of the process leading up to the patient's death or disclosure of medical records, we will respond in accordance with the "Guidelines for the Provision of Medical Records" (notification from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare).
For more information, please contact the reception desk.

How to decide on the patient's responsible person (key person)

    • The patient will decide on the key person.
    • If the patient is unable to decide on the key person himself, the family will discuss and decide on one key person.

The role of the patient's representative (key person)

    • Responsibly handle admission and discharge, payment of medical expenses, etc.
    • Listen to explanations about the patient's condition and symptoms, and communicate the details to other family members
    • Act as the point of contact for important communications and inquiries from the hospital, collect requests from family members, and contact them as the representative
    • Designate an emergency contact in case the key person cannot be contacted
